Many people think that sales and marketing are basically the same. These two concepts are different in many aspects. Marketing covers advertising, promotions, public relations, and sales. It is the process of introducing and promoting the product or service into the market and encourages sales from the buying public. Sales refer to the act of buying or the actual transaction of customers purchasing the product or service. Malaysia’s business services sector contributes only 2.9 percent to GNI, creating significant opportunity for growth. In other emerging economies, like China and the Philippines, the business services sector is expected to grow by around 11 percent in the next decade. In line with the target of achieving high-income status by 2020, Malaysia should aim to match or even surpass this level. By 2020, it must be move closer to the benchmark of developed economies like the United Kingdom, where the business services sector contributes roughly 20 percent of both GDP and employment and 14 percent of exports, and this goal can only be achieve with the support from sales & marketing personnel. |
